Privacy Policy

The Fallen Quill collects nothing, sends nothing, and works entirely on your device. This page explains that in full — what the app does not do, what it stores locally, and why each permission is asked for.

No data collected No accounts No ads No tracking Works fully offline

Summary

The short version, and it is the whole version.

Nothing is collected, and nothing leaves the device.

The Fallen Quill makes no network requests of any kind. It has no account system, no sign-in, no server, no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, and no third-party tracking. There is no crash-reporting service. The app ships with no networking code path at all, so there is simply nothing to send anywhere.

What we collect

The App Store privacy answers, in plain form.

QuestionAnswer
Do we or any third party collect data from this app?No
Data used to track youNone
Data linked to youNone
Data not linked to youNone

We do not collect, sell, share, or transmit any personal information. The developer never receives your saved progress, your photos, your display name, or any usage data, because none of it is ever sent off your device.

What the app stores on your device

All of it stays inside the app's private container. None of it leaves.

WhatWhereLeaves device?
Chapter progress, stars, best times, attemptsDocuments/FallenQuillVault.jsonNo
Ink balance, upgrades, streak historySame fileNo
Recovered archive entries and branching choicesSame fileNo
Display name on the Archivist CardSame fileNo
Sound, music, haptics, motion and reminder preferencesSame fileNo
Profile portrait photoDocuments/FallenQuillMedia/No
Sketch Studio plates (composited image only)Documents/FallenQuillMedia/No

The display name defaults to Night Sweeper and is a free-text label you type. It is never validated, transmitted, or associated with any identifier. Camera and library images are downscaled to a maximum 1400-pixel long edge and re-encoded as JPEG before being written into the app's private container. Nothing is uploaded, and no image metadata is read, retained or transmitted.

Permissions

Every permission is optional. The whole game works without any of them.

PermissionWhy it is askedWhen
CameraPhotograph a real street, wall or manhole and trace it in the Sketch StudioOnly when you tap "Take a photo" in the Sketch Studio or on the Archivist Card
Photo library (read)Import a picture as a tracing plate, or set an Archivist portraitOnly when you tap "Choose from library"
Photo library (add)Save an inked plate back to your photosOnly when you tap "Export to Photos"
NotificationsOne local reminder when the ink barrel refills, one nightly streak reminderOnly when you turn reminders on; off by default

All notifications are local (handled by the system on your device). There is no push service, no device token, and no remote-notification capability in the app's entitlements.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages (suggested rating 4+). There is no user-generated content shared between players, no chat, no social layer, no third-party links opened from the app, no advertising, and no purchases. Because the app collects no data, it collects no data from children either.

Deleting your data

Open Settings › Your data › Erase everything inside the app to delete the save file and the entire media directory immediately and irreversibly. Deleting the app removes the same data. Because nothing is ever sent off-device, there is no server-side deletion request to make and nothing for us to delete on our end.
